EMSE undergraduate team wins IEEE Best Paper Award at SE Symposium

EMSE students Four EMSE undergraduate students won a Best Paper Award for their Senior Design Project at the IEEE Systems and Information Engineering Design Symposium, held at the University of Virginia, on April 29, 2022. They developed a multi-criteria decision analysis tool for capital planning and prioritization of WMATA facilities and assets. The EMSE student team competed with other US universities and bagged the Best Paper Award in the Optimization, Simulation, and Decision Analysis Track.

GW Alumnus Andre Douglas Named NASA Astronaut Candidate

Andre DouglasGeorge Washington University alumnus Andre Douglas, Ph.D. ‘21, has been selected to join NASA’s 2021 astronaut candidate class, the first new class of astronauts announced in four years. The 35-year-old Virginia native earned a doctorate in systems engineering from the GW School of Engineering and Applied Science. 

Dr. Barbera wins American College of Emergency Physicians award

Dr. Joseph BarberaThe American College of Emergency Physicians presented him with the 2021 Disaster Medical Sciences Award in recognition of his impact on the field of disaster medicine.
