Four EMSE undergraduate students won a Best Paper Award for their Senior Design Project at the IEEE Systems and Information Engineering Design Symposium, held at the University of Virginia, on April 29, 2022. They developed a multi-criteria decision analysis tool for capital planning and prioritization of WMATA facilities and assets. The EMSE student team competed with other US universities and bagged the Best Paper Award in the Optimization, Simulation, and Decision Analysis Track.
The recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Working Group III report sets some rather ambitious goals for avoiding the worst consequences of climate change, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 45 percent by the end of the decade. Read the full article.
George Washington University alumnus Andre Douglas, Ph.D. ‘21, has been selected to join NASA’s 2021 astronaut candidate class, the first new class of astronauts announced in four years. The 35-year-old Virginia native earned a doctorate in systems engineering from the GW School of Engineering and Applied Science.
