The Department of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering (EMSE) is pleased to announce that Dr. Ekundayo (Dayo) Shittu has been selected to receive the 2018 SEAS Outstanding Junior Teacher Award, which he will share with Dr. Leila Farhadi of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

When Dr. Shittu joined the EMSE department in 2013, he brought significant prior teaching experience from universities around the world, including Tulane University, the American University in Cairo in Egypt, and the University of Ilogin in Nigeria.

At SEAS, Dr. Shittu has taught both graduate and undergraduate EMSE courses and consistently receives outstanding instructor evaluations from his students for the courses he teaches.  He demands extremely high standards from his students, but is very available to the and always willing to help them learn difficult material.  His consistently positive attitude is infectious with his students and fellow faculty.

Dr. Shittu also takes his teaching outside the classroom, helping to bring underrepresented populations into the STEM [science, technology, engineering, and math] fields and sponsoring a summer program for college students from Brazil.  In additions, he is extremely involved with the EMSE senior design teams and helps guide them in the annual SEAS Pelton Competition.

Congratulations to Dr. Shittu.
