SEASSPAN

SEAS Student Peer Advisory Network (SEASSPAN)

The School of Engineering and Applied Science Student Peer Advisory Network (SEASSPAN) is a student leadership organization comprised of approximately 30 carefully selected mentors who help incoming first year students transition to SEAS. The mentors come from various backgrounds and have unique interests that help to complement the diversity of the freshman class. They act as liaisons to the SEAS administration, are part of the SEAS Summer Orientation program, help to coordinate the New Student Getaway, and support the integration of new students into the SEAS community. Additionally, the mentors assist new students moving into their residence halls, help answer questions about SEAS, plan engaging programs throughout the year, and introduce new students to the GW campus.

Aman

SEASSPAN President
Biomedical Engineering - Senior

My name is Aman (said like give me Uh-Min). I am from outside of Philadelphia - and I am your SEASSPAN President! If I’m not studying in SEH, I’m probably at improv practice, taking some pictures, or at another theater-related event. I enjoy photography, hiking, and my cats. On behalf of all the 2022-2023 SEASSPAN mentors, we are so excited to meet you all and welcome you to the wonderful GWU and SEAS.

Yasser

Yasser

SEASSPAN Vice President
Mechanical Engineering - Senior

Hello there, and greetings crossing the globe from Saudi Arabia (yes, that’s where I’m from) to you! I’m the vice-president of SEASSPAN, which is great because that means I’m on the top of the website instead of being at the end :) You will probably see me walking around campus trying to attend every meeting for every student org, trying a new restaurant in DC, or just exploring a new metro stop. In short, I love exploring and trying new and different things! When I finally settle down, you can always expect me to be playing with my Xbox, watching any sport that is not American football, binge watching a short show or anime, or even cooking and hoping no one gets food poison. I’m really excited to see all of you and welcome you to the SEAS community :)

Annalisa

Annalisa

Biomedical Engineering - Senior

Hey guys! I'm originally from Fairfield, CT, my parents now live in Vermont, but D.C. is my home! You’ll usually find me in SEH studying or running around to a million org meetings. In addition to SEASSPAN, I’m President of The Engineers’ Council, so I’m pretty involved within the SEAS community. I’m super into lifting, bubble tea, and discovering new music, so if you have any recommendations hit me up. On the weekends, I love being active and trying new restaurants around the city. Can’t wait to meet y’all!

Annette

Annette

Biomedical Engineering - Junior

Hi! I’m Annette and I’m from the Dominican Republic —so pretty much saying that I love the beach is a given. When there is no sand nearby, I really enjoy going on long walks, which lately have been to the National Mall or Georgetown, drinking (too much) coffee, and hanging out with my friends. However, you’re most likely to find me on the 4th floor of Tompkins blasting loud music (in my earphones) while doing work. I’m so excited to meet you all so don’t be afraid to say hi!

Arielle

Arielle

Biomedical Engineering - Senior

I’m from Westchester, NY (and no that’s not upstate lol) and I’m a member of Alpha Omega Epsilon (AOE), the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), research on campus, and the Clark program. I LOVE exploring and trying new things, foods, activities, and places (so if you have any suggestions HMU). In my free time I love to eat, hang out with friends, shop online, bake, paint, intensely watch Tik Toks (may have an addiction), and watch anime. If you're looking for me, I'm probably in the 5th floor south labs of SEH or sitting on a picnic blanket in Kogan when it's nice out. I can’t wait to meet you guys!!

Arshiya

Arshiya

Biomedical Engineering - Sophomore

Hey guys! My name is Arshiya Khokher but cool people call me Arshi. I'm from Toronto but I came to DC from New Orleans, Louisiana. You can probably find me on a nice day crocheting in Kogan. I'm involved in the Pakistani Student Association, SEASSPAN, and hopefully soon Theta Tau. Currently my passions include wasting all my money on Gong-Cha boba and using my friends' switches to fuel my Mario Kart addiction. Feel free to reach out with any questions or if you need someone to explore DC with! I can't wait to meet you all and welcome to SEAS!!

Ashley

Ashley

Mechanical Engineering - Junior

Hi everyone! My name is Ashley and I’m from Damascus, Maryland. I absolutely love city living and exploring new places to eat, going to fun museums, and monumenting at night. When I am not in the city you will find me outside camping, hiking, or hammocking. If you ever need good food recommendations or a buddy to explore DC with let me know!! I can’t wait to meet you all this fall!

Elaine

Elaine

Computer Science - Sophomore

Hi you all! I’m from the little city of Falls Church, Virginia, and have lived here my whole life. Sometimes it feels like I want to do everything, but I’ve got to take it one step at a time. My current shenanigans include sporadically roller skating at 2am, signing up for too many extracurricular activities, and not being able to sit still while I eat. What gives my life meaning is never being afraid to chase my dreams and challenge myself, and if that resonates with you, I think we’ll be great friends. Going to GW has been one of the most eye-opening experiences for me and I hope I can introduce you to everything GW has to offer. Welcome to SEAS and I can’t wait to get to know all of you as individuals!

Hello! I am from Phoenix, Arizona, which might as well be the surface of the sun. You will often find me studying, but when that’s not happening, I am probably practicing a new song on my guitar or biking somewhere in the city. I am so excited to meet you all in the Fall. Welcome to SEAS, and welcome to GW!

Evalyn

Civil Engineering - Senior

Hey everyone! I’m a senior civil engineering major from Tewksbury, New Jersey (yes, central Jersey exists) and love going to Wawa! Civil engineering is part of almost everything we do and what better place to study it than in our nation’s capital? When I’m not running around in SEH, you can find me chilling at Compass Coffee or reading on the National Mall! Besides engineering, my interests are welding, baking, thrift shopping, and axe throwing (just for fun, of course). Come to me whenever you’re in need of a terrible joke and any mental health or academic advice. I’m so excited to meet all of you and once again, congrats and welcome to SEAS!

Fred

I’m from Shaker Heights, OH (like in Little Fires Everywhere). Although I don’t like coffee, you can always catch me drinking a tea from Starbucks while I work. When I’m not busy studying for my classes in Gelman, I am probably out doing my best not to fall off my skateboard. I also love going on monument walks, exploring with my friends, and doing cool photoshoots. If you see me around campus don’t hesitate to say hi. I can’t wait to meet you all!

Majd

Hey guys! I am Jordanian Palestinian but was born in Florida. I lived most of my life in Jordan and loved it there. You will always find me watching football (real football not American football) or the NBA, and I would love to talk about either with anyone. I also love to play spike ball and ping pong. My favorite thing about DC is the zoo, which I will literally go to any day of the week. Welcome to SEAS!

Matias

Matias

Computer Science - Sophomore

Hey, y’all! My name is Matias (Mah-Tee-As) and I am from Charleston, SC, but was born in Guatemala. You can usually find me in District studying or eating. I am involved in Theta Tau, Tau Kappa Epsilon, and of course SEASSPAN. If you see me running around everywhere talking really fast, it’s because I definitely took a bit too much caffeine. On a chill day, I love playing video games and watching anime, but I also love going out with friends and living in the moment. I can’t wait to meet y’all this fall!!! OH! I also love my dogs :)

Mei

Mei

Biomedical Engineering - Senior

Hello! My name is Mei and I'm from Cincinnati, Ohio. You can find me attempting to do work in SEH, be on TikTok, or going on walks around D.C.! My go-to caffeine source is the cold brew black tie from Peet's (hehe thanks Makeda for the rec). I went abroad to London fall semester last year, so please find me if you have any questions about studying abroad or literally anything else! Can't wait to meet you all and welcome to GW :)

Michael

Michael

Biomedical Engineering - Senior

Hey everyone! My name’s Michael and I’m from Warwick, Rhode Island (Del’s Lemonade, Rocky Point, coffee milk, anything ring a bell?). When I’m not studying in SEH, you can catch me swimming on GW’s club team, going on late-night walks to the monuments, and eating way too much &pizza. I’m always looking for new places to explore around the city - especially a rooftop with a good view - so talk to me if you want a recommendation or have a suggestion of something I should try. I’m also a big MCU buff and am fully ready to debate with anyone about character or movie rankings (if Captain America: The Winter Soldier isn’t in your top 5, we’ve got issues). I’m looking forward to welcoming you all to DC and GW!

Mikayla

Mikayla

Biomedical Engineering - Sophomore

I am from a small town just north of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. If I’m not in SEH studying, you can find me doing something for the many orgs I’m involved with (AOE, BMES, and SWE, just to name a few), on a rowing machine/boat, or getting creative with writing or playing music. A few other things I love to do include reading, exploring Washington D.C., and hanging out with my friends. If you ever want to talk about music, books, cool places throughout the city, or anything else, feel free to reach out to me. Welcome to GW and I can’t wait to meet all of you this fall!

Hello everyone! I’m Rebecca! I am from a small town in Massachusetts called Sturbridge (If you grew up in New England, chances are you have been to Old Sturbridge Village on a school field trip)! You can usually find me in SEH by the green wall doing work or getting distracted by friends! I am involved in BMES, SWE, Alpha Omega Epsilon, and Club Swim. When I am not studying, you can usually catch me in the pool or walking aimlessly around DC discovering new things and places. Late night monument walks or finding a new bakery to try with friends are my favorites! Welcome to SEAS, I cannot wait to welcome you all to GW!
